St.
Clare’s is a 200 bed acute care community hospital with approximately
1,100 employees and 500 members on its medical-dental staff. More than
200,000 patient visits are logged annually in St. Clare’s modern, well
equipped facilities.
The hospital, established in 1949 under the auspices of the Albany
Catholic Diocese, serves a diverse, multi-cultural population and
embraces patients from all walks of life and religious orientation.
Known throughout the region as The Family Practice Hospital, St. Clare’s
has graduated over 200 physicians and 100 dentists from its residency
programs, many of whom have opted to practice within the Capital Region.
St. Clare’s Emergency Department recently underwent a major expansion
and renovation and is Schenectady’s most highly utilized ER. The
attractive and home-like Family Birthing Center is the city’s only
obstetric service, logging more than 800 deliveries in 2004 of which 256
directly involved the residency program.
St.
Clare’s also boasts a state-of-the-art peripheral vascular suite, highly
regarded critical care area, women’s imaging unit, sleep disorder lab
and wound care center.
Beyond the hospital’s walls, expansive campus facilities house a diverse
group of private medical practices and hospital-operated services. The
Medical Arts building offers sub-specialty services in pediatrics,
OB/GYN, ophthalmology, otorhinolaryngology and gastroeneterology. The
Health Services Building houses geriatric services, Capital District Dialysis Center and its associated physicians.
The hospital’s third professional building, the Cushing Center includes
the Family Practice Residency Program and its related Family Health
Center, along with a variety of specialists including general and
plastic surgeons, cardiologists, allergists and family physicians.
St. Clare’s enjoys a strong social structure not unlike that of an
extended family, whose members are bound together by the hospital’s
healing mission and ministry. Highly regarded through the Mohawk-Hudson
Valley, St. Clare’s has earned a reputation for excellence in patient
care, for its progressive management concepts and insightful planning
strategies. The hospital’s success parallels the caliber of its staff. |
